James is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA®) charterholder with extensive experience as a veteran capital markets research director and a private equity manager. Before joining Shaunessy Investment Counsel, James headed up equity research for HSBC Securities Canada, leading a team of 25 analysts. He is also the former Managing Director and Head of Institutional Equity Sales for National Bank Financial, and he’s spearheaded several private equity and private merchant banking ventures. At SIC, James leads the Toronto practice and is a portfolio manager working closely with the firm’s clients.
