Senior Analyst, Corporate Services, Trucost, part of S&P Global
David is a Senior Analyst in the Corporate Services team at Trucost, part of S&P Global. David specialises in natural and social capital valuation for diverse clients across the food and beverage, pharmaceutical, utilities, automotive, mining and IT sectors. He has particular expertise in stress-testing business models and investment portfolios, and supporting clients in setting long-term targets for reducing water use and carbon emissions under different environmental scenarios. In the investor space, he has undertaken long-short analysis of the environmental performance of equity holdings and contributed to the design of the S&P Global Ratings Green Evaluation Tool.
Prior to joining Trucost, David had several years’ experience as an environmental policy consultant to clients including the European Commission, European Investment Bank and UK Government at ICF International, and supporting the likes of Coca Cola, BASF and Thames Water on water stewardship at the European Water Partnership in Brussels.
David holds an MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Edinburgh and is in the final phase of a PhD project focusing on natural capital valuation at the University of Exeter Business School.
Water scarcity risk has been in the spotlight recently with Cape Town’s efforts to avert “Day Zero” and the risk of taps running dry. Although this risk appears to be receding through radical conservation measures, including wholesale elimination of abstraction rights in some cases, it underlines the common global challenge of increasing fresh water scarcity….
